Drawing on stories shared in the community history book by the same name, Trails We Blazed Together explores the settlement stories of High Prairie and the Big Lakes region.
Through family histories, photographs, memories, and objects, the exhibit highlights the experiences of people who travelled to, settled in, worked on, and helped build communities across the region. These stories speak to resilience, adaptation, hard work, neighbourliness, and the many cultural backgrounds that shaped local life.
The exhibit invites visitors to reflect on how communities are created over time — through migration, family, farming, business, faith, education, service, and everyday relationships. By sharing the voices and memories preserved in local history, Trails We Blazed Together celebrates the people and families whose stories continue to shape High Prairie and the surrounding Big Lakes region today.
